Observer-Bata Most Popular Cricket Contests... : Annite Roshan Abeyratne tops 1,000-votes in Outstation Contest Last year's runner-up in the Most popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Outstation - Roshan Abeyratne, has gone into a tremendous lead after the count on Coupon no. 3 of the Observer-Bata Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer-Outstation. He has been the first cricketer to top the 1,000-vote mark. Abeyratne has totalled 1,138 votes in the Outstation Contest, while present second placed Inshaf Razik of Azhar College, Akurana has just 159 votes, while S. Dushantha of Sri Sumangala, Panadura is third with 130. In the All-Island Contest, Benedictine Sisil de Silva keeps his lead with 994 votes, while Trinitian Avanka Peiris climbed one place up and is presently second with 485 votes. Sahan Wijeratne of Prince of Wales, Moratuwa - the Observer-Bata Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year - All Island last year has dropped down two places and is presently fourth with 216 votes. In third position is Nuwan Perera of St. Sebastian's, Moratuwa with 414 votes. He was in eighth position the previous week with 16 votes. The voting coupons for the Observer-Bata Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year All-Island and Outstation appear in the "Daily News" as well and readers are reminded that any number of coupons can be sent in one envelope for one cricketer.
