Ravi Iddamalgoda commended and invited again to officiate by CLIFFORD LANDERS from Australia Melbourne, March 15 - Invitations to further officiate in motor racing events were received by Sri Lanka's first Grand Prix official Don Ravi Iddamalgoda after his successful performance during the Formula One Grand Prix finale here last week. Iddamalgoda who officiated as a "Paddock Marshal" during the V8 Super car, Formula Fords, celebrities mini events and the Nations Cup which was raced by Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and Dodge Vipers racers during the four-day event received accolades and recognition from many quarters, especially by organising officials. He told the Sunday Observer that "They invited me to officiate at the V8 CLIPSAL 500 races to be held from 20-23 March 2003 in Adelaide. But, since I did not expect the invitation and plan for this event in advance and also due to work commitments, I am unable to officiate". He added that "Now I am in the officials list and will be getting offers every now and then. Since I am working on Saturdays it is very difficult to get leave from my work place. Therefore, I have to select the events and attend for only vital events", he lamented. |
