Sri Lanka to stage four games of International Rugby Quadrangular by LAL GUNESEKERA Sri Lanka will host four games in the IRB/ARFU Quadrangular in April-May with the Asian Rugby Football Union (ARFU) ruling that these games to be staged in Colombo due to the crisis in the Middle East. The Secretary of the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) Group Captain Nalin de Silva (rtd), told the Sunday Observer that Sri Lanka will play Arabian Gulf on April 18, Japan on April 22 and Hong Kong on May 31, while the Japan vs Arabian Gulf game is down for decision on April 20. The venue will be Longden Place. However, Japan's two games with Hong Kong and Arabian Gulf is to be staged in Hong Kong with the dates only to be finalised by the Rugby Unions concerned. Group Captain de Silva further said that the ARFU will reimburse the SLRFU with the additional expenditure involved. Earlier, Sri Lanka were to play Japan on April 20 in Japan, Arabian Gulf at Longden Place on May 16 and Hong Kong at Nittawela on May 31. He further said that due to the IRB/ARFU Quadrangular now scheduled for April-May, the Caltex League Championship which normally kicks off in April, will now commence in the first week of May, and that the Council of the SLRFU will meet on March 28 to take the final decision. |
