'Battle of Mangosteens' March 21 and 22 by DIVAKARA MOHOTTI - Kalutara Group Corr. The 44th 'Battle of the Mangosteens' cricket encounter between Kalutara Vidyalaya and Tissa M.M.V. will be played on March 21 and 22 at the Kalutara Esplanade. A fifth year coloursman Geethan Anuradha Joseph captains Kalutara Vidyalaya team while Sagith Harshana leads the Tissa MMV team. In batting, Kalutara Vidyalaya has skipper Joseph who has scored 370 runs this season inclusive of two half-centuries and he is a fine allrounder having captured 44 wickets this season. Then vice-captain Nadheera Prabath Nawela has scored 397 runs which includes five half-centuries, Kasun Fernando has 308 runs, Dulanga Jayatunga 316 runs, and Pujitha Gunawardena 387 runs. In bowling, besides skipper Joseph, Kalutara Vidyalaya has Nawela 32 wickets, while Dulanga Jayatunga has 28 wickets and Dinesh Indika 23 wickets. For Tissa MMV, Sagith Harshana has scored 327 runs, Niluka Shirantha 307 runs, Nalin Ranga 360 runs, while in bowling, Upul Shantha has captured 22 wickets and Amila Eranda 27 wickets. |
