Accolade for Asian Paints

Asian Paints, the India-based multinational with extensive operating interests in the region including Sri Lanka, has been rated the best "small" company in India in 2002 by Asiamoney, the Euromoney subsidiary and Asia's top financial magazine.

The "Small" Company category comprises companies with market capitalisation below US$ 500 million (about Rs. 48 billion). Asiamoney's eleventh annual ranking of the best managed companies across countries in the Asian region was based on a poll that was faxed to nearly 3000 Fund Managers, Chief Investment Officers and Heads of Research at fund management firms, insurance companies and brokerage houses in the Asia Pacific Region including Australia and Japan, as well as in Europe and North America and internal research carried out by the magazine.

Commenting on this prestigious rating, Ashwin Dnai, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Asian Paints (India) said: "We are delighted to be accorded this recognition from one of Asia's leading financial magazines. This is a reflection of our continuous process of being transparent and maintaining high standards of corporate governance. Wealth creation for the shareholder is important, but most important is transparency, which is very essential for any successful and respected organization."
