Away from conventional techniques :
Mixing various paints by Vimukthi Fernando Imagination...though many may disagree about its virtues, you could never be able to enjoy the various forms of art and even scientific inventions, if not for the magical qualities of 'imagination...' Here, is one such talented artist whose imagination has taken him away from the use of conventional painting techniques. Jayantha Tissera, uses emulsion paints for his paintings along with water colours and experiments different techniques with natural paint material.
But my mother used to say artiste cannot get anywhere in life. So, I focused my attention in the technical field and took it up as a profession," says Jayantha. However as the years went by there was a 'sense of dissatisfaction and a growing need to express myself in the form of art. And with the encouragement of my wife I started painting again." As he prepares for his maiden exhibition, I want to give my best for the exhibition," says Jayantha.

He takes different textures from different paints. Mixing various hues
and various paints giving his paintings an unusual illusion. For him it is
'fund to experiment with paints' and a task which is 'highly satisfying.'
Employed in the electrical field for the past 15 years, Jayantha had
started pursuing his childhood dream,with the prompting of his wife.
Studying at Sunethra Devi Pirivena, Pepiliyana, "I was very
interested and quite good in painting when I was in school.
