Sports in brief Royal regain 'Mustangs Trophy' beating S. Thomas by 81 runs by RANJAN ANANDAPPA Royal regained the 'Mustang's Trophy' with a pulsating 81-runs win over S. Thomas' in their limited overs cricket match played under lights at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Khettarama yesterday. In pursuit off 216 runs for a win, the Thomians managed only 135 in 42.5 overs. Sabaragamuwa rally to win 12/8 by SRIAN OBEYESEKERE Rugby is a fashionable fad when the season is in full flow for the various dresses that add colour to the game. But that is in July, and as if to give a wiff of the game there were two teams kicking with a touch of `Le Bond', the fashion trendsetters from Hameedias who have come forward to genrously sponsor the Western Province Under-24 Rugby Tournament. Yesterday, at Longden Place the Sabaragamuwa Province lads - a composition from the Rugby Football Union's Development Squad - and the Western Province Invitation XV - a mixture of schoolboys from Panadura, Moratuwa and Piliyandala - dished out some interesting fare. That is in so much as rural talent is concerned before Sabaragamuwa, who were led 5-8 at one stage rallied to emerge victors by 12 points (a try and goal) to 8 (try and penalty) after the game was deadlocked at 5-all at 'lemons'. Scorers for Sabaragamuwa were Asanka Lakmal and Tharaka Chandramana while the try was converted by Suranga Malraj. For the losers, Sameera Fernando touched down while I. Sanjeewa scored the penalty. Referee: Irshad Ariff.
