Blue Oceanic Beach Hotel

The star in 'Little Rome'

Text and pictures by BEVERLEY JANSZ

Built among palm trees, along a beautiful sun-kissed beach in the coastal town of Negombo, known as 'Little Rome' stands Blue Oceanic Beach Hotel, a Jetwing hotel. Just eight kilometres from the BIA, the hotel offers extensive sun drenched tropical beaches for the perfect leisure holiday. The hotel has been designed to compliment its breathtaking location, ideal for sun sets over a splendid view of the ocean silhouetted with sail boats. The inherent courtesy of friendly, caring, courteous staff, adds to the overwhelming setting. The hotel is in particular a child and family friendly hotel with the kiddies corner and also a trained animator on call. Guests could get on the web at the Blue Oceanic Beach Hotel's own Cyber Cafe or work out at the gym.

A deluxe room

When the sun is warm, guests plunge into the hotel's spacious pool, or stretch out on a deckchair on the shimmering sand to be lulled to sleep by the sounds of waves and the cool sea breeze. The bedrooms opening onto a sundeck, are a sight to marvel at the multitude of colours draped in eye catching fabric to suit the taste of guests, enhances the captivating 'outlook' over the ocean coastline.

Blue Oceanic offers 110 air conditioned rooms with central air conditioning, telephone, mini bar, channelled music, and large private balconies which offer a spectacular view of blue ocean. The hotel has two main restaurants serving delicious cuisine prepared by chefs with international experience. The main attraction offered by the hotel is the boat excursions along the Dutch canal (also known as the Hamilton Canal) constructed by the Dutch in 1644 for the purpose of transporting Cinnamon and other goods. While on the excursions, tourists savour the beautiful and scenic view of the coconut palms and other vegetation, fishing boats going up and down and the bird life. The canal opens into the lagoon and the lagoon is connected to the sea.

The hotel also offers its guests deep sea fishing trips, for which fishing rods and other items are provided. With an increased demand for residential Ayurvedic facilities, Jetwing has provided an Ayurvedic resort, with many villas in close proximity to the Blue Oceanic Hotel, providing maximum privacy in each villa with its own garden said Palaka Perera, an experienced and versatile hotelier who took over the hotel as its General Manager recently. Palaka said that Blue Oceanic promotes the products and the industries relevant to Negombo in an effort to sustain growth in community related activities and thereby promote tourism as a whole. The hotel has a fully equipped Gymnisum, a beautiful Swimming Pool, Tennis Court, Squash Court and offers Table Tennis, Billiards, Beach Games, boat rides, diving during Winter, fun cycling, boat and Catamaran tours, flood lit volleyball, karaoke music and Dj music.

Blue Oceanic Beach Hotel, which is a Jetwing hotel, can be classified as a star resort offering that perfect leisure holiday.
