Sri Lanka Schools vs Tamil Nadu aquatic dual in Chennai The 27th Age Group Swimming and Diving Championships to be conducted by NAASU from June 5 to 7 will serve as time-trial for the selection of swimmers to represent Sri Lanka Schools against Tamil Nadu in the aquatic dual to be held in July in Chennai (Madras), India. Ms. Ranjani de Fonseka, Secretary Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association said that they have accepted the invitation from Chennai and the swimmers will be selected on their performances at the Age Group Swimming and Diving Championships. Dr. David Ponniah, Warden, S. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia who is the President of the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association, is making every effort to make this tour a success and he will be looking for a sponsor to help the schools swimmers to compete in the dual, said Ms. Fonseka. The swimmers in six age groups and 'open' will have to qualify in following events - 50 metres backstroke (open and group I, II, III, IV), 25 metres backstroke (group V and VI), 50 metres breaststroke (open and group I, II, III and IV), 25 metres breaststroke (Group V and VI). 50 metres butterfly stroke (open and group I, II, III, IV), 25 metres butterfly stroke (Group V and VI), 50 metres freestyle (open and group I, II, III, IV), 25 metres freestyle (group V and VI), 200 metres individual medley (open and group I, II, III, IV), 100 metres individual medley (group V and VI). |
