Three new age groups in Sri Lanka - Tamil Nadu aquatic dual by LESLIE FERNANDO Sri Lanka Schools vs Tamil Nadu aquatic dual will be held on July 12 and 13 in Chennai (Madras) India. The Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association has received the approval from the Ministry of Education (Sports Division) to participate in the second dual in Chennai. The Tamil Nadu swimmers will be from Justice P. S. Kailasam Medical and Educational Research Foundation. Three new age groups have been included under-7, under-8 and under-9 in addition to under-13, under-15, under-17, under-19 and open (both boys and girls) said Ms. Ranjani de Fonseka, the Secretary SLSASA. The SLSASA has acceded to the Indian request. The swimmers to represent SLSASA in the three age groups under-7, under-8 and under-9 will be selected after a special trial to be held on June 14 at S. Thomas' College Mt. Lavinia pool. All races will be of 25 metres, four strokes plus the 4 x 25 metres individual medley. On June 14 at 8.00 a.m. trial for under-7, at 10.30 a.m. trial for under-8 and at 1.00 p.m. trial for under-9. The SLSASA hopes to send over 100 swimmers for the dual. Altogether 42 events, including the freestyle and medley relays will be held. All races for swimmers open, under-19, under-17, under-15 and under-13 will be of 50 metres while the 25-metre races will be for under-9, under-8 and under-7. |
