Kasturiratne wins first Lectra Grand Prix for golf by S. M. JIFFREY ABDEEN, Kandy Sports Corr Cricketer turned golfer S. Kasturiratne won the first ever Lectra Grand Prix for golf for the year 2002/2003 with an overall total of 432 points at the Lectra Golf Championship organised by the Victoria Golf Club and sponsored by Lectra France Limited and Apparel Technologies (Pvt) Limited and worked off at the picturesque Victoria Gold Course at Rajawella in Digana last Sunday. Director of Lectra Singapore (Pvt) Limited Jean Pierrie Simon was the chief guest and distributed the main awards with Rohan de Silva, Chula Ariyaratne, Tony Witham. S. Kasturiratne, Mrs. Janine Weeratunga, Peter Welle and many others. It turned out to be a day of pulsating golf out in the 500 acre course and a still competition was witnessed with over 50 golfers vying for honours and eyeing the number of prizes which were offered at the star spangled show which was followed by cocktails and dancing through the night. |
