Every thing you wanted to know about Facing Interviews by DAVEENA PAKIANATHAN How do you face an interview? This is a crucial issue for many young job seekers. It is a stage where they need to be wary, as they may possibly be entering a vocation. 'What is a CV?', 'How do you prepare for an interview?', 'How do you dress?', 'How do you respond to tricky questions?' and 'English communication' are some of the areas that may pose problems for the aspiring job seeker. Now for the first time, a guide which answers all these questions has come out in the form of a Video CD. The VCD on the 'Art of Facing Interviews' is a creation of the Rotary Club of Colombo Downtown. It is the final result of an extensive volunteer collaboration between many human resource, career guidance and drama and cinema professionals. The Career Guidance Unit of the University of Colombo supported this venture. The presentation comes in the form of a drama which revolves around a young man who goes to his first interview completely unprepared. Throughout the video, constructive resources are provided on all key facets in the art of facing interviews. The VCD is custom made to suit Sri Lankan needs and contains a set of guidelines and tips which will be invaluable to the youth of Sri Lanka when facing his or her first interview. The VCD was launched last week at the Agrarian Research and Training Institute under the patronage of Minister of Tertiary Education and Training Kabeer Hasheem. |
