Response to PM's speech Interim administration should meet LTTE aspirations - TULF Senior TULF Parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham has welcomed the Prime Minister's proposal for an interim administration for the North-East and urged the Government to set up such an administration with the correct legal advice in a manner that would meet the aspirations of the LTTE. Minister and SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem, however, urged that Muslim interests should be accommodated in this arrangement. Pararajasingham, expressing his views on the current status of the peace talks, told the Sunday Observer that an interim administrative structure in the North-East would finally lead to a "meaningful political settlement" of the ethnic problem, and that such an administration would also expedite the rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in the region . Commenting on last Wednesday's meeting between the TULF and the Prime Minister and also on the Premier's address to the nation, Pararajasingham said that his personal view was that the Prime Minister was "doing his best" to overcome the current crisis situation. |
