Pot- pourri of needlecraft All Island Patchwork and Needlecraft Competition and Exhibition on a grand scale Over 540 adult participants and 40 schoolchildren will get together to exhibit their handiwork at the 10th annual All Island Patchwork and Needlecraft Competition and Exhibition from July 25 to 27, at the BMICH, Colombo. Organised by Daisy Vittachi's School of Hobby Craft, the competition and exhibition, brings together many talented needlecrafters throughout the country. being the 10th consecutive year "we are planning to host a grand show this year", said Daisy Vittachi. "Each participant is eligible to send in three entries and the registration fee of Rs. 50 to 250 is levied based on the items. It is free for schoolchildren," she said. "This year, the display arrangements are different from the previous," said Vittachi. There will be 21 bedroom arrangements, three baby rooms, three sitting rooms and a sewing room. In addition 12 dining tables, pantry decorations, 50 new quilts, wall-hangers, cushions, bags, dolls and paper toll items will also be displayed. Competitions such as 'Excella Queen, Anchor Queen and Arpico Queen will bring sewing machines and trophies for the winners. Other categories winners will have gift items. "A certificate of recognition will be given to each participant", said Vittachi. Sponsored by Hayleys Consumer Products, Coats Thread Lanka, Arpico and Sirasa TV, the exhibition is open to the public from 9 to 7 at an entrance fee of Rs. 50. (VF) |
