The 12th annual Mercedes-Benz Pageant on Aug. 3 A must for every Mercedes-Benz owner
The Mercedes-Benz Club will state the most eagerly awaited event on the club calendar - the annual Mercedes-Benz Pageant, on Sunday August 3, at the BMICH. Diesel and Motor Engineering Company Ltd (DIMO), the general importer of Mercedes-Benz to Sri Lanka is sponsoring this event for the 12th successive year. This year's pageant is open for anyone who owns a Mercedes-Benz. All you have to do is to drive in your Mercedes-Benz to the BMICH on the day of the pageant from 7.30 a.m. onwards. Mercedes-Benz owners, for generations have shared the pride and honour of belonging to one of the world's most exclusive circles - The Mercedes-Benz family. This year, as they gather under the vestige of the three-pointed star, the essence of being a part of this highly distinguished family will be the focus of their celebrations. Anyone who owns a Mercedes-Benz is instantly considered a family member and therefore, welcome to join the pageant and the festivities. The theme of this event being 'the family, will naturally place great emphasis in family participation with fun, games, food and entertainment for the whole family including raffle draws, special prizes and surprises. Moreover, each family participating will have the opportunity of receiving a memento - a framed family photograph taken at the event. According to the organizers Mercedes-Benz vehicles will not be judged this year, however gifts will be awarded for the following categories:- The first lady driving in Oldest car Kiddies Fancy Dress Parade (please come prepared with your fancy dress outfits) Youngest owner Largest Mercedes-Benz fleet owner For over 100 years, the name Mercedes-Benz has been synonymous with design, safety, luxury and comfort. In 1990, 8 enthusiasts formed the Mercedes - Benz Club of Sri Lanka to propel these high standards. In just 12 years, it became the most sought-after motoring club in the country.
The annual pageant attracts a large number of participants from all over the country where models from pre-World War II to the very latest will be displayed. The pageant gives an opportunity to all Mercedes-Benz owners to exhibit their cars, share their enthusiasm, exchange knowledge and interact with others with similar interests. It was also noted that a rare model that is of limited edition owned by Mr. Geoffrey Bawa was on display last year. As the authorized distributor of Mercedes-Benz in Sri Lanka, DIMO actively participates in all club events. They offer help and advice to club members, provide their members with information regarding new research and development in the automotive field, distribute the Mercedes-Benz Magazine, and help vintage car owners to acquire rare spare parts when needed. Furthermore, the Mercedes-Benz Club considers it a privilege to associate themselves with DIMO, probably the oldest Mercedes-Benz distributor in the world. The Mercedes-Benz club annually organizes many activities, which include annual charity programs, fellowship rallies and get-togethers. |
