Beauty is not skin deep

by Arundathie Abeysinghe

"Beauty can go deeper in anyone and bring out the glamour of each individual if the correct beauty treatment and diet is followed", says Krishani Hewavisenti who started her profession as a beautician from the age of 19. (As a student at Ladies College too she had a keen interest in Beauty culture.)

Krishani learnt her first lessons in beauty culture from her mother Gwendoline Kuhathewa. Later she followed a two year course (Diploma in Beauty Culture) at the World Federation of Hairdressing and Beauty Schools. "Complexion changes and excess weight are two problems faced by men and women. The changes are often caused by accumulation of toxins, due to age, stress, improper diet, smoking, alcohol or lack of exercise."

"When the skin and kidneys become overloaded with toxins the elimination process is restricted and the body begins to store these in the fat cells. The natural collagen and elastin, which are responsible for the support and elasticity of the skin and tissue become inhibited and results in loss of firmness and tightness," says Krishani.

Describing the procedure she uses for body toning she goes on to say; "Sea Clay solution is applied to skin through our body contouring process, draws on the toxins from the skin, adipose tissue and the fluid around the fat cells. With the moderate pressure from the special contouring process, the fat cells and skin becomes compacted against the muscle base. By detoxifying the skin and tissue, the natural elastin and collagen are rejuvenated and the skin is once again able to accept and maintain the new shape it has been moulded to".

Krishani who uses Universal Contour Wrap says the system works through a process of "osmosis", explains that the passage of fluids through a membrane or other porous substance. Osmosis occurs when the Sea Clay solution draws out the impurities through the pores. The gentle pressure of the contouring wraps and the solution also stimulates the latent toxins in the adipose tissue and these toxins are flushed through the aid of the lymphatic system.

The Universal Contour Wrap according to Krishani also helps in weight loss through the compacting of the soft tissue and the skin tightening.

With weight loss the fat cells are reduced (weight loss is the only way to reduce the size of the fat cells) and toxins are released and stored in the tissue and the fluid around the fat cells, she says.

The contouring process takes about 2 1/2 hours and is an external application.
