Sampath Bandara's book 'Cricket Wansa Kathawa' will be launched on Aug. 14

A sports journalist with over a decade of experience, Sampath Bandara, will be launching his latest book titled "Great Chronicle of Cricket" (Cricket Wansa Kathawa), which is a complete history of the sport, at the Galle Face Hotel on August 14 at 5.30 p.m.

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Johnston Fernando, will preside at this occasion and among the others who will be present are Messrs Nalin Ladduwahetty (Chairman of ANCL), Bandula Padmakumara (Editorial Director of ANCL), Thilanga Sumathipala (President of the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka), Hashan Tillekeratne (Sri Lanka's Test cricket captain), Marvan Attapattu (Sri Lanka's one-day cricket captain) and a host of others. Media personality, Dharmasiri Gamage, will be the compere.

Sampath Bandara who is attached to the Dinamina newspaper of ANCL is an old boy of Kingswood College, Kandy, and his latest book in Sinhala consists of 477 pages with over 350 photographs. It's a Sarasavi publication.

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. K.D.G. Wimalaratne on "History of cricket literature". (L.G.)
