Pearl strong on the dance scene

Yesterday Saturday was another of those exciting dance dates for the band Pearl led by Jayantha de Silva when they were the featured dance band at the DFCC dinner dance. The acknowledged band has been extremely successful on the music scene with its wide repertoire of music that covers contemporary pop, rock'n roll evergreens, country, latin and baila.

With a front line of strong singers comprising Priya Goonetilleke, Drucille, Randy de Hoedt and Jayantha himself, plus the singing jazz voice of guitarist Tony Ferdinandeus, Pearl has remained in the forefront for more than three decades, giving happiness to their fans with their brand of music. What's more, singers like Priya Goonetilleke and Drucille are multi-instrumentalists, who switch around when the occasion arises.

This New Year's Eve, Pearl for the eleventh year will be the featured band at the 'Silver Ball' staged by the Hilton, Colombo.

Presently the group performs weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Hotel lounge and according to Jayantha their schedule of dates is a crowded one with dances including the well-known and popular Hilton Sports Centre Dance, the Trinity College Dance, Tea Traders Dance, Police Dance, Medical Dance, to name a few. Make a date with Pearl at the Hilton Colombo on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
