The MerryAn Singers have over the years been a group of entertainers who were successful in every production they staged, and 'Yoretime' presented on Sunday August 31 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Lionel Wendt Theatre was another feather in their cap. The programme covered a delightful cross section of music which started off with the Boys Choir singing a choreographed time honoured 'My Grandfather's Clock' moved into semi classics, standards, show tunes, arias from operas, the best of pop songs and gospel nuggets ending with 'Ride On King Jesus.' A music lover couldn't have asked for more. It was a wealth of entertainment and extraordinary talent from the members of the Junior and Adult choirs and the many individual performances sparkled and shone which reflected the magical qualities of Mary Anne to bring out the best in her students. As usual high standards were met and the enthusiasm and commitment by the singers were amazing. The music industry is in dire need of outstanding singers and we hope in the near future, this talent will be absorbed into our professional music scene. It you missed out on 'Yoretime' blame yourself. However, don't forget to catch the MerryAn Singers at their next presentation in October which will be staged on the 3rd, 4th and 5th. |
