A. Ratnayake MMV - Kandy Senior boys and girls overall and Relay Champs

A. Ratnayake MMV, Walala boys and girls came up with sterling performances to win both the senior and junior championships and relay championships too at the Kandy District Athletic Association's Junior and Senior Championships and Relay Championships which ended yesterday at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy.

In the Senior Championships for boys A. Ratnayake MMV, Walala got 184 points to come on top with Trinity in second place with 115 points and Dharmaraja third with 85 points. Among the girls in the senior group, A. Ratnayake MMV, Walala scored 326 points to take top berth with Mahamaya second with 112 points and Wattegama Balika Vidyalaya third with 77 points.

In the senior boys relays, A. Ratnayake MMV, Walala took top berth with 108 points with Trinity second 37 points and Beraverts third with 30 points. Among the senior girls, A. Ratnayake MMV, Walala came first with 154 points with Wattegama Balika second 82 points and Girls High School third 24 points.

If A. Ratnayake MMV Walala did well among the seniors, Dharmaraja excelled among the juniors, Dharmaraja College took both the Championships Trophy and the Relay Trophy too. In the Junior Championships, Dharmaraja came on top with 143 points with Kingswood second 104 points and Trinity third 99 points.

In the relays, Dharmaraja came first 39 points, St. Anthony's Katugastota second 31 points and Kingswood third 29 points.

Among the junior girls, Girls High School took top honours in the Championships with 163 points, Mahamaya were second 129 points and Hillwood third 79 points.

However, Mahamaya reversed the result in the junior girls relays as they took top place with 56 points, Girls High School second 37 points and Wattegama Balika Vidyalaya third 25 points. There were events for kiddies too and in the boys section, St. Anthony's Katugastota came on top with 121 points, Trinity came second 76 points and Dharmaraja third 32 points.

Among the girls, Mahamaya came on top with 101 points, with Swarnamalie B.V. second 34 points and Kandy Convent third with 33 points.
