Premier Pacific International, a leading property development company has stepped forward to be the main sponsor of the prestigious AMCHAM Charity Golf tournament for the second consecutive year.

The tournament, which will be held on September 26th, is expected to attract a large number of amateur golfers.

Chairman of Premier Pacific Nimal Perera stated that the sponsorship of this event is viewed by the company as a means of promoting a worthy cause. "We should always endeavour to support those less privileged than we are", he said.

The proceeds of this year's sponsorship will be directed towards 'Nawajeevana' an organisation which focuses on community based rehabilitation programmes for the mentally and physically challenged. Nawajeevana is located in Tangalle and has assisted 4500 persons over the past 15 years.

Mr. Perera also observed that golf is one of the fastest growing sports globally and this is also evident by the fact in the large number of amateur golfers in Sri Lanka. "The company is committed to popularising the sport in Sri Lanka", he added. Premier Pacific conducts its own tournament in November, the North East Monsoon Golf Tournament, which the company has been sponsoring for the past five years.
