NCCSL assume chairmanship of IOR-BF The Indian Ocean Rim Business Forum (IOR-BF) was held in Colombo last week. The matters discussed at the forum included strengthening shipping, port development, insurance and re-insurance, cross-border finance and tourism. The forum was chaired by Sri Lanka and focused on issues such as setting up a regional shippers' council, tourism promotion and development as well as upgrading and managing sea ports and maritime transport. NCCSL assume the chairmanship of IOR-BF. The forum was jointly organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The IOR-BF is held parallel to the fourth IOR-ARC Council of Ministers Meetings that is being held in Colombo from October 7-13. Minister of Foreign Affairs Tyronne Fernando will chair the Council of Ministers Meeting, which will be held today. The member countries of IOR-ARC including Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Oman, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania and Thailand are participating at the forum while China, Egypt, France, Japan and the UK are participating as dialogue partners. The Indian Ocean Tourism Organisation is an observer. |
