Sri Lankan identity 
on the ramp

The Fashion Awards catwalk show of the Lanka Institute of Fashion Technology (Pvt) Ltd (LIFT), was held on Oct. 9 at the Colombo Plaza. Twenty five young designers participated, working on the theme of "Sri Lankan identity," each presenting four outfits from their men's and women's wear collections.

Concepts included the Sinhala alphabet, wild life, religions, spices and agriculture, customs and art forms.

LIFT is a centre for training fashion designers, set up in collaboration with University College Northampton, UK, and has been registered under the Tertiary & Vocational Education Commission of Sri Lanka.
