The many shapes of Bonsai

The Sri Lanka Bonsai Association held its annual exhibition on October 17, 18 and 19 at the Jayawardena Centre, Dharmapala Mw., Colombo.

The art of growing trees in miniature form has grown in popularity in recent times.

The suitability of bonsai for town and  suburban gardens which tend to become smaller and smaller in our shrinking world, is one of the reasons, say the organisers of the exhibition.

The intriguing art that originated in China and Japan, also appeals to the ordinary person because of its beauty and the peace and tranquillity it imparts. Pictured here are some of the exhibits.
