The Golden Clef Promising Singer of the Year 2002, Nevanthi Pieres was in the midst of rushing around, handling her travel documents and listing her last minute requirements that she would need for her trip to the UK with Bathiya and Santush, when we met up with her, to have this interesting personal pow wow. A literary fanatic Nevanthi offered French, English, Western Music and Greek and Roman Civilisation for her 'A' Levels at Bishop's College and hopes she'll be able to get back to an academic career. Music wise she's hoping to go solo and is writing songs with the intent of releasing a CD. Name: Nevanthi Pieres Status: I'm married to one of the nicest guys I've ever known, and he's DJ Steve. Fav colour: You'd be surprised. My fav colours are dark blue and dark purple. Trendy outfits: I'm not one for following fashion to the letter, if it is comfortable I'll wear it. Otherwise it is jeans and shirts. If I have to get away from that it is pants and saris for formal wear. Hair do's: I like short hair tinted in weird colours. I've now got this urge to tint my hair in dark blue streaks. Fav music: Now its jungle music what they say is a mix of hip hop and trance. I like jazz and blues. Fav song of the 80s/90s: Oops! I can't spell it out just like that. Lets say that my fav song of the early years is 'Escape; by Rupert Holmes and the current one is 'Don't Know Why' by Norah Jones. Embarrassing day: I've been lucky so far not to have a situation like that. How much of a party girl are you: I'd like to. I'm a party girl at heart. But I don't go out much since my husband DJ Steve works every night. How do you reject advances from men: I do not reject just like that. I smile, grin and hope they get the message! Are you superstitious: No! not in the least bit. What makes you happy in life: Besides chocolates and ice cream which makes me happy, my husband is my best friend and I'm extremely happy about that. I'll be missing being with him for my third wedding anniversary. I'll be in the UK performing with Bathiya and Santush. What keeps you awake at night: I'm a late, late sleeper. I hit the hay only around 4 am. I watch movies, the TV, I read books and most of all I write, I keep a journal I've been doing this over the past years, to record my life. Where would you like to be most now: In Serbia. That's where our group Bathiya and Santush won the award. It is really a nice place. The pace of life is slow, much slower than us. Yet they are advanced and it is really fantastic. I'd love to go there again. What other profession would you like to be in: A lecturer in English - especially languages and literature. What would you do if you ruled the world: I'd make people stop and think of what they are doing, and make them aware of doing the right thing and thereby enjoy their life. I'll stop people being stressed out. Your fav food: Spaghatti in any recipe. Do you cook: I can make cakes, desserts and pies. What would you have liked to have been in a past life: A human being again and to control my surroundings. Are you a dreamer by nature: Yes. I like travelling and I dream about it with my best friend Steven. Fav cartoon character: Angry Beavers. If you could change anything about yourself what would it be: I'd like to be thinner. I'm a bit too heavy. |
