Shane at Colombo Plaza

What's your favourite melody? Is it a song by Nat King Cole, the Beatles or to move into modern times a song from the pen of Elton John? Then drop by at the Colombo Plaza during lunch time and enjoy the piano artistry of Shane Blok who plays at the Colombo Plaza five days a week, and as he tells us 'occasionally at the London Grill too.'

Shane who juggles two careers - a musical one and a Business Management one - takes time off to perform at the Grand Oriental Hotel, Colombo on Mondays and Thursdays at dinner time at the Harbour Room. His schedule is certainly a crowded one.

On Saturdays he performs for an appreciative audience at the Capri Club, and is a popular choice for corporate functions and at weddings.

Besides the tunes of yesterday Shane who learnt his art from well known teachers of music - Stanley Perera, Shanthi Setunga, Vilma Warnakulasinghe and Shanthilal Silva, has a wide repertoire which includes classics, semi-classics, waltzes and contemporary pops.

An old boy of St. Peter's College and St. Benedict's College, he enjoys sitting at the piano and playing for hours and with no feeling of being stressed out. "I live a relaxed lifestyle with regular exercises, balanced diet and a lot of rest" - Shane's secret to success.
