Back home to teach music

Back home in Sri Lanka after more than a decade in the UK is Kanthi Fernando a teacher of western classical music.

A pianist who completed Grade 8 piano when she was in Sri Lanka under the tutelage of Deanna Fonseka has followed the CT ABRSM in UK a professional development course to meet the needs of both the experienced teacher in music and those new to the profession.

According to Kanthi while in UK she studied extensively under Daniel Pipe, Paul Howe and Miss L. Lonke and in her career as a piano teacher has performed as a piano soloist, duet player, choir accompanist and a percussionist in an orchestra. "Being a high scorer myself as a child interested me in exploring the rich diversity of the piano repertoire journeying through Baroque to contemporary music" says Kanthi who has commenced teaching music here with the dedicated interest and intent of sharing all her training with her pupils in Sri Lanka.
