Czech Pospisil takes first set - and then rain

Jareslav Pospisil of the Czech Republic won the first set 7-6 (7-5) in the singles final of the Jembo Futures Championship of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) yesterday at the National Tennis Centre (NTC) in Greenpath as heavy rain put paid to any chances of an interesting battle for supremacy with bottom seeded South Korean Kim Young Joon.

The Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) are now hoping that the weather will improve this morning and the courts dry to continue with this final in the tournament worth US Dollars 10,000.

Pospisil has already pocketed the Doubles title with fellow countryman Karel after they received a walk-over from Boris Borgula and Kutac of Slovakia.Korea's Kim Young Joon won the Singles in the first of the "back to back" tournaments in Colombo defeating Slovakia's Borgula 6-3, 7-6 (7-4). (L.G.)
