The high-energy drummer/percussionist Clarence Corera whose dramatic latin slant in his playing, never failed in having his audiences on their feet applauding, will be in Sri Lanka for the Christmas season.
Now in Washington DC, Clarence before he jets down home, will perform at a show in Canada on December 12 with Mignonne, Tony Samaranayake, and Brian Feltman. Writing to us from Washington, Clarence tells us that at this show he will play his Latin percussions and hopes to do a spot on 68 rhythms combined with African Djambe. In the hospitality trade by day the adrenaline in Clarence urged him to free lance as a Latin Jazz Percussionist and Drummer and he now plays with Jerry Jackson, Cynthia Dave Quartet, Satin Doll Quartet and an acid Jazz band called People 606. He had, he says extreme happy moments when he performed with Santana in Virginia Falls Church and Dennis Chambers let him sit in on two songs. Now Chambers is his buddy, so too Perrazo Karl and Raul. Music runs in the family no doubt. Shawn his son who was deejaying in Sri Lanka continues to spin and mix grooves in Washington. Once again music lovers in Sri Lanka will have the opportunity to enjoy Clarence's flamboyant artistry on acoustic drums and congas, his humorous anecdotes, but most of all his sizzling, slick beats on percussion which rockets off to a high and makes them go nuts. |
