Shuttle queen Chandrika set for clean sweep by SRIAN OBEYESEKERE Shuttle queen Chandrika de Silva was on course yesterday to making a clean sweep of all her events, having won two titles - the ladies doubles partnering Pameesha Dishanthi and mixed doubles partnering Thushara Edirisinghe while also in sight of retaining the ladies singles title having entered the final which will be worked out today at the 51st Badminton Nationals Open worked out at the Royal College complex. In the ladies doubles, Chandrika and Pameesha made light of Amali Amarasinghe and Thilini Jayasinghe by two straight sets 15-9,15-9 and later along with Thushara got the better of the combination of Yasintha Liyanage and Jude Fernando in what turned out to be the best contest for the day having been stretched two three sets to finally win 15-9, 7-15, 15-7. In the singles, Chandrika won 11-8, 11-1 in a one sided affair over P. Dishanthi having breezed over Sarani Udeshika 11-1, 11-1 in the quarters. Meanwhile, reigning singles champion Niluka Karunaratne too dominated winning the doubles partnering Chameera Kumarapperuma 15-5,15-10 over P. Dissanayake and S. Aponso while Niluka also set his sights on retaining the singles open setting up a final with Thushara Edirisinghe for today having beaten Hashan de Silva 15-12, 15-8. Edirisinghe won his semi final 15-5, 17-14 over D.D.Ranasinghe.
