Conrad Francis likely to skip World Cup meet by LESLIE FERNANDO Conrad Francis who is presently in Australia training under Mark Thompson head coach Nunawading Swimming Club, Forest Hill, Victoria, in all probability will not swim for Sri Lanka at the 2003-2004 FINA World Cup Short Pool Championships in Melbourne. The four day meet commenced on Friday. Conrad has been advised by his coach Thompson not to risk swimming as his left shoulder is injured - with a torn tendon, said National Aquatic Sports Union of Sri Lanka media spokesman C. Vijitha Fernando. Fernando said that Conrad was to swim in four events-50 and 100 metres butterfly stroke and 50 and 100 metres breast stroke Rifdy Fahmy, Secretary Aquatic Sports Union of Sri Lanka (ASUSL) said that the Australian Swimming Federation requested Sri Lanka to send entries for this championships and the Executive Committee of ASUSL unanimously decided to nominate Conrad Francis to swim at this meet. The entry for four events was posted to Australian Swimming Federation on October 16. Rifdy further added that ASUSL had kept a close track on Conrad's performances. Conrad will now concentrate on the Swimming December Victoria Competition in Victoria on Dec. 6, 7, 13 and 14. He will swim for Nunawading Swimming Club, Victoria. |
