Kandy Municipality to beautify city for Test match

Kandy Municipality has taken steps to attract the local spectators as well as foreigners in the 2nd Test match between Sri Lanka and England to be played at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy from 10th of December to 14th of December 2003. Kandy Mayor Kesara Senanayake presided at a meeting which was held at the Town Hall recently in which the hotelliers, municipal officers, police and army personnel and representatives of cultural sections participated.

Following are some of the decisions taken:

. During the lunch break to organise cultural shows in front of the stadium on all five days. . The island of the Kandy Lake to be illuminated with coloured bulbs. . It was decided to distribute photographs of the historical places of Kandy which is a heritage city among the spectators, especially the foreigners.

The meeting was also attended by M/s. L.B. Aluwihare - Deputy Mayor, T. Wickremasinghe-Municipal Commissioner, Dr. Sujatha Ekanayake - MOH and Deputy Commissioner Mrs. R.M.N. Ratnayake.
