Water sports spectacle at Dambulla A water sports spectacle organised by the Windsurfing Association of Sri Lanka in collaboration with Lanka Sports Reizen (LSR), was held in tandem with the first one-day cricket international between England and Sri Lanka at Dambulla. While spectators at the Rangiri Stadium were absorbed in the battle of the willow, millions of TV viewers around the world were treated to colourful glimpses of windsurfing, water-skiing and jet-skiing displays on the adjoining Imbankatuwa Reservoir. President of the Association Baron de Livera said that the event was the brainchild of Gamini Lokuge, Minister of Tourism and Paddy Withane, Chairman Tourist Board to promote the country's attraction as a watersports venue. Managing Director of LSR said that the show was part of his organisation's drive to poularise adventure sports in Sri Lanka's latest tourist promotional campaign. |
