Sri Lanka ideal for foreign investment

Many leading international airlines have added Sri Lanka to their travel map while there is also an increase of frequency of the current airlines said, Secretary to the Minister of Commerce and consumer affairs Harsha Wickramasinghe.

Speaking at the launch of the EU Sri Lanka partenariat recently he said that with the peace process in place Sri lanka is the best place for foreign investments.

He said that Sri Lanka is now rapidly developing in the region and is presently negotiating economic Co-operation agreements with several countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh,Thailand and Singapore. The 2004 event is co-financed by the European commission and organised by the European Chamber of commerce Sri Lanka (ECCSL) in collaboration with the EC delegation office in Sri Lanka.

It will be held at the BMICH on June 3 and 4, 2004 with focus on promoting ties between small and medium scale enterprises in Sri Lanka and European Union.

Trade Promotion organisations from the EU countries have confirmed their participate at this event. Over one hundred local companies too will participate at this event claimed to be the largest one-to-one Business matching event to be held in Colombo.
