Sri Lanka need to adopt a similar strategy after the current situation is managed; Branding & Positioning Sri Lanka in the right perspective is vital in this process" Says the new Chairman of CIM Sri Lanka, Lasantha Wickremesooriya. Wickremesooriya has been re-elected as the CIM Sri Lanka Branch Chairman for the 2nd year, with a successive track record where Sri Lanka was acclaimed as the 'Benchmark Branch' for countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Kenya for running a Branch, at the CIM Chairman's forum in London. He counts over 27 years of experience in Senior Marketing and General Managerial positions and currently is the Director in charge of the Agricultural Directorate of Brown & Company Ltd. He has been involved in diverse industry sector and represented in several Trade and Chamber associations. He also has a passion for teaching and coaching and pledges to concentrate in the development of areas relating to students and members of CIM Sri Lanka. CIM is the world's largest professional body of marketing with over 60,000 members worldwide. In Sri Lanka, there are over 100 Chartered Marketers, 600 members and 3500 students. Sri Lanka has an impressive track record of being appointed the first overseas CIM Branch in the world and also winning the "Chairman's Decanter" for outstanding performance in 3 consecutive years. Furthermore, Sri Lanka pioneered the industry specific marketing programme, by offering the Postgraduate Diploma in Apparel Marketing for the Apparel sector in Sri Lanka. |
