AIDEX 2003 on Dec 14

AIDEX 2003, the annual sports festival organised by the Colombo Friend-in-Need Society for users of the Jaipur Limb will be held this year at the Colombo Municipal Council Sports Grounds, Reid Avenue, Colombo 7, on Sunday, December 14, 2003, commencing at 9.00 a.m.

Track and Field events, Cycling, Archery and Wheelchair races will be among the events worked out. Over 350 participants have already registered and around 100 volunteers have already agreed to help run this event. Members from the Cycle Federation, AAA, Air Force band, pupils from Musaeus College and volunteers from other organisations will be among the volunteers.

The events, commencing at 9.00 a.m. are expected to go on until 4.30 p.m. and the festival will culminate with a march past.

Many donors have come forward to make this event a success. Principal donors are National Savings Bank, Omar Foundation, Tissa de Silva Trust, Ceylon Theatres Ltd and subsidiary companies.

Ms. Tashiya Captain, Managing Director, Global Fitness Centre (Private) Limited will be the chief guest on this occasion.

The Organising Committee chaired by Prof. A. H. Sheriffdeen have worked hard this year to make it a success.
