Flame to perform in Bangalore

Folk music with a dash of rock spreads untold fascination and the group Flame over the years has been a strong outfit that has with dedication kept alive this meaningful and catchy vibes and in the process gathered many fans here in Sri Lanka.

Now they've spread their wings and are off on Tuesday (January 6) to Bangalore to perform the same day and until January 8 at the Lufthansa launch which will be held at the Leela Palace. The members of Flame are extremely happy, because this is not the first time they've entertained music lovers with their brand of folk music in India. They were in Chennai for an earlier Lufthansa launch and were overwhelmed by the audience reaction. "It was great" chorus Rienzie and Naushad "We never realised that there was such a big following for folk, so we can anticipate friendly reaction in Bangalore".

Undoubtedly, since they've never faulted in their expression and expertise, which has resulted in many returns by their fans. Flame has faced personnel changes and the group now comprises besides original members Rienzie Pereira - guitar/vocals and Naushad Rasool - guitar/vocals, Chris de Alwis vocals/guitar, multi instrumentalist - Ranjan Josiah playing bass/guitar, Niroshan de Silva - drums, and Chamath Ariyadasa - piano.

"The Management of Taj Sheraton offered us a one month contract but we had to decline it due to our many commitments here" Rienzie clues us in. "We play regularly on Sundays at Molly's and on Fridays at Hilton Colombo Residence (former JAIC).

Besides the folk we've widened our repertoire to take in jive and rock n'roll which keeps our fans in a happy dancing mood".

A popular choice at corporate functions too, Flame the Sunday Observer Golden Clef 1994 Folk Band winners enjoy the distinction of being an outfit that attracts music lovers regularly, to listen purely to their music and go home with memories.
