STC Medicals to consolidate its position

STC Medical Ltd (STC-M), which is currently marketing generic products under their chemical names and five branded products under their original brand names, is planning to import and market medical equipment and devices in the near future.

Among these product ranges are equipment such as blood pressure apparatus and auto claves. STC Medicals also plans to compete for Health Ministry tenders to supply medical and surgical equipment, which it says can be provided at lower prices.

STC-M is also in the process of registering products of reputed manufacturers with high credentials.

When these products are marketed in Sri Lanka, prices of pharmaceuticals will be further reduced.

Currently STC directly imports many branded products from multinational manufacturers and markets them in Sri Lanka at prices which are 40 to 50 per cent lower than their competitors.

STC Medicals believes that it could achieve its mission of reducing the cost of pharmaceuticals and allied medical and surgical equipment in Sri Lanka if these plans are implemented.
