The Sri Lanka Tourist (SLTB) has officially recognised The Blue Water Hotel, Wadduwa as a five star hotel. The five-star authentication plaque was ceremonially presented by Sri Lanka Tourist Board Chairman, Paddy Vithana, to the Blue Water Hotel Chairman, Ajith Wijeyesekere last week at the Tourist Board office.

The Blue Water, designed by renowned Architect, Geoffrey Bawa on the concept 'Intelligent Luxury,' was opened in 1998. Jetwing Hotels Ltd., has been the management company since its inception, Director Marketing Jetwing Hotels, Lalin de Mel said. The hotel revolves around a single theme - water, mini pond and waterways surround the hotel. Overlooking all this lies the beautiful Indian Ocean.

The hotel has 100 elegantly designed rooms with central air conditioning and offers 5-star luxury facilities. The hotel is also complemented by a restaurant 'The Admiral Room', a 24-hour coffee shop 'The Seven Seas' and its very own night club 'Blue Wave and Bar' (Porthole).

Facilities at Blue Water include a pool bar, gym/health club, beauty salon, boutique and souvenir shop located ideally down the South coast.

The Blue Water is the single choice of anyone seeking refuge for the soul. It is popular as a perfect location for a wedding with a difference or a meeting/conference in a more relaxed form. Always excelling in service and luxury, the Blue Water is the popular tourist spot not only to foreign guests but Sri Lankans alike, de Mel says. He said that plans are under way to have an in-house spa and a speciality restaurant. The management has planned to raise the high standard of the hotel further to meet the niche market needs of high end travellers.
