Singer Yasmin de Silva was bubbling with excitement, the other day, when she gave us the good news that with the band Sohan and the X'periments she was off to Bangkok on January 15 for a show organised by the Sri Lanka Association.
In the meantime, music lovers must surely have heard Yasmin's new single release 'A New Day is Dawning' which is receiving considerable airplay on SLBC. "After the last Golden Clef Awards 2002 I became interested in composing my song and released it last September 2003. The melody and lyrics are mine, the music was played by the X'periments and the arrangements were handled by Shobi Perera. The title is self explanatory and the arrangement includes a fusion of tabla and flute and is quite catchy in its medium ballad tempo" Yasmin clues us in. She has been singing with the X'periments for over a year now and finds it all interesting. The New Year's Eve celebrations at the Colombo Plaza was extremely enjoyable and unexpected with an ice bar at the entrance,a chocolate room, a sea food room and a live mermaid! |

Why you may wonder was she all hyped up over a flight to Bangkok?
Because this was going to be the first time in her life, that she was
travelling in an airplane and she was looking forward to it with the
eagerness of a child. The band Sohan and X'periments was scheduled for
their performance yesterday January 17. We wish them all good luck!
