Charges against ministers sons withdrawn

by Jayampathy Jayasinghe

The fracas which took place outside a night club adjoining the Colombo Plaza Hotel in Kollupitiyta last week between sons of Ministers S.B. Dissanayake and Mahinda Wijesekera with relatives of Minister Kabeer Hashim and their friends was compounded after the aggrieved party decided to withdraw their complaint lodged with the CID, sources said.

The matter ends with the withdrawal of the complaint and it would be brought to the notice of courts at the next day, sources said.

The accused in the case are Narada Dissanayake and Tharaka Dissanayake, the two sons of Minister S. B. Dissanayake and the son of Minister Mahinda Wijesekera, and three others, alleged to have caused damaged to a state vehicle. Their statements were recorded in detail by the CID officers.
