Prisons draw one-all with Police

Prisons SC drew with Police SC one-all in a thrilling veterans championship match in connection with the All-Island Hockey Carnival organised by the old boys of St. Sylvester's College and worked off at the Bogambara Stadium yesterday.

Minister of Central Region Development Tissa Attanayake was the chief guest of the opening ceremony. Mayor of Kandy Kesara Senanayake will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony today. Another match which drew a lot of interest was the veterans match between Old Sylvestrians and Old Zahirians which ended in a scoreless draw.

Kegalle HC turned out to be the whipping boys of the tournament as they were beaten by margin of seven goals both by Old Sylvestrians and Kandy Malays.

The tournament will be resumed this morning at 7.30 a.m.

Women's Championship 'A' Group:

Pushpadana BV drew with Essence SC 0-0. Essence SC beat Sangamitta BV 1-0, Pushpadana BV beat Sangamitta BV 1-0.

Women's 'B' Group:

Pushpadana OGA beat Vijaya College 1-0, Seetha Devi SC beat St. Anthony's SC 1-0, Seetha Devi SC beat Pushpadana OGA 2-0, Old Duthians SC drew with Vijaya College 0-0.

Men's Championship

Group A: Kandy Malays beat Kegalle HC 7-0, Old Sylvestrians beat Kotalawala Defence Academy 1-0, Old Sylvestrians beat Kegalle HC 7-0, Police beat Kandy Malays 1-0.

Group 'B':

Air Force beat old Vidyarthians 2-1, Old Vidyarthians beat Old Rajans 1-0, Old Vijayans beat Old Vidyarthians 1-0, Air Force beat Old Rajans 2-0.

Group 'C':

Old Thomians, Matale drew with Cambridge SC 0-0, Wennappuwa SC beat Kingswood SC 2-1, Old Thomians SC drew with Wennappuwa SC 0-0, Kingswood SC beat Old Cambridge SC 2-1.

Group 'D': CH and FC drew with KH and FC 0-0, Colts SC drew with University of Peradeniya 0-0. CH and FC beat Colts SC 1-0, University of Peradeniya beat KH and FC 3-0.

Men's Super League

Group 'A':

Air Force beat Old Zahirians 1-0, Air Force drew with Police 0-0.

Group 'B':

Park SC beat Navy 2-0, Navy beat CH and FC 1-0.

Veterans Over 40 Men:

Group 'A':

Old Zahirians drew with Old Sylvestrians 0-0, Park SC drew with Prisons SC 0-0.
