India wants peace with all neighbours including Pakistan: Vajpayee NEW DELHI, Jan 31 (AFP) - India's prime minister said Saturday that he wanted peace and friendship with all its neighbours, including arch-rival Pakistan. The comment comes as India and Pakistan prepare to resume stalled dialogue on the vexed issue of disputed Kashmir. "India always believed in having peaceful, friendly and cooperative relations with all her neighbours," Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee told a Global Convention on Peace and Non-violence conference here, according to the Press Trust of India. "It is in the same spirit that my government has been trying to resolve all the outstanding issues with Pakistan through dialogue." Nuclear rivals India and Pakistan earlier this month announced the resumption of talks in February to resolve tensions over the Himalayan region of Kashmir after the two countries came to the brink of war in 2002. Kashmir has been the spark for two of the three wars between the Asian rivals since their independence from British rule in 1947. |
