Nawaloka Hospital, a flagship private hospital in the country, marked a milestone in its continued efforts in upgrading health-care facilities by establishing an ultra modern Lasik eye care treatment unit at a cost of Rs. 65 million.

This treatment, a medically advanced technique of laser vision correction, is computer-controlled, automated and quick.

Nawaloka Hospital's Director- cum-General Manager, Prof. Lal Chandrasena explained how Nawaloka Group had continued to invest in a big way in upgrading and introducing modern health care services to the country.

The latest Zyoptix 100 machinery, recently installed at Nawaloka hospital, provides an advanced form of laser vision correction that ensures a sharp accuracy of treatment. It has been manufactured by Bausch and Lomb, UK.

"It differs from previous laser technique as it is individually tailored to each eye, giving a unique reading," said the Director, Refractive Asia of Baush and Lomb, Yi-Kheong Ng.

He said, "this quick surgery takes only three to five minutes". Lasik surgery, per eye, will cost around Rs.50,000.It is almost painless and provides a speedy recovery, Prof. Chandrasena said.
