SLIM awards 2004

The "SLIM AWARDS" which was inaugurated in 1988 is aimed at recognizing and rewarding excellence in advertising. In the 15 years of its existence it has received a lot of hype and over the years has added value to improve the quality of standards in the advertising industry.

Forceful and effective advertising is built on sound creative thinking, said AGM Jagath Gamanayake

The success of a good advertising campaign appears to pivot on two strengths, strategic thinking (account planning) in creative form by the agency on one hand and the contribution by the client on the other.

SLIM Awards 2004, has strived to foster and enhance the client-agency relationship and that is the reason why SLIM has endeavoured to make the marketer an integral part of the advertising process and rewarded them for the first time. As clients, we strongly believe this has fulfilled a much felt need, Gamanayake.

The client's foresight and vision together with the agency's input has helped create many breakthrough campaigns.

By recognising the client's role in SLIM Awards, the industry will benefit in many ways. The agency will be encouraged by the client to develop award winning creative advertising campaigns for their product and services, and the client in turn will be enticed to spend more.

Asked why NSB was interested in the Advertising Awards, Mr. Gamanayake explained that the banking sector is the biggest spender on advertising-the most visible aspect of Marketing and NSB has realized the vital role played by advertising in the highly competitive banking industry.

By sponsoring such events agencies are given the drive to develop good advertising campaigns for their clients. He further went on to say that NSB was justly proud of its performance over the years, in providing an exceptional service to its valued customers and is happy about its contribution to events of this nature.

National Savings Bank being one of the main partners of this year's Ad Awards, is pleased to be associated with this prestigious event and confident that colourful ceremonies of this nature will motivate those involved in the advertising industry to create great advertisements.

For SLIM, the reassurance is that the awards are receiving an overwhelming response each year.
