Today the final one-dayer at the SSC grounds Kasprowicz shapes Australia's series-clinching win Michael Kasprowicz grabbed a maiden five-wicket haul and Adam Gilchrist equalled a record of six catches as Australia whipped Sri Lanka by 40 runs in the fourth one-dayer here on Friday. Fast bowler Kasprowicz took three wickets in one over to finish with 5-45 as Sri Lanka crashed to 193 chasing a modest 234-run target in the day-night match to concede a 3-1 lead in the five-match series. The fifth and final one-dayer will be played today at the SSC grounds. Kasprowicz triggered the sensational Sri Lanka collapse which saw the hosts lose their last eight wickets for 50 runs on a spinner-friendly pitch. The fast bowler was superbly supported by wicket-keeper Gilchrist, who equalled his own record of six dismissals in an innings earlier achieved against South Africa at Cape Town in 2000. The Australian duo's efforts eventually upstaged a brilliant 101 by Kumar Sangakkara, who had sustained his team's hopes with his third century. "He (Sangakkara) played a fantastic knock," said Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Sri Lanka's slide began with the dismissal of left-handed Sangakkara, who was caught behind off Kasprowicz after smashsing 15 fours in his 110-ball knock. Sangakkara put on 78 for the second wicket with skipper Marvan Atapattu (19) and 65 for the next with Mahela Jayawardene (25). Sri Lanka then failed to cope with Kasprowicz, who continued to keep pressure on the batsmen with his probing line and length. Sangakkara looked set to press home the advantage given by spinners Muttiah Muralitharan and Upul Chandana, who shared six wickets to restrict Australia to a small total. Off-spinner Muralitharan (3-44) wrecked the middle order while leg-spinner Chandana (3-37) made short work of the lower order as Australia slumped from a healthy 201-5 to 206-9. The tourists were on course for a big total following solid half-centuries from Ponting (67) and Andrew Symonds (53) before floundering against the spin duo. Symonds completed 2,000 runs during his 10th half-century, while Michael Clarke slammed a 32-ball 36 in the closing overs. But Kasprowicz later proved that Australia still had the bowlers to defend a small total. AUSTRALIA A. Gilchrist c Sangakkara b Zoysa 14 M. Hayden c Zoysa b Vaas 15 R.
