Sri Lanka Schools Junior National Netball Champs

Sri Lanka Schools emerged 2004 National Junior Netball Champions. They defeated Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya by 36 goals to 32 in the final played at Torrington Square grounds concluded last Sunday.

The championships were conducted by the Interim Committee of the Netball Federation of Sri Lanka. Trinity six teams participated in the championships.

The following received special awards for their fine performances - Shereen Nugera (Sri Lanka Schools Netball Team), the Best Player of the Championships. Nadeesha de Silva (Kalutara Balika Vidyalaya), Best Centre Court Player, Shani Nissansala (Colombo District Netball Association), Best Defence Player, Lakshika Ranasinghe (Sri Lanka Schools Netball Team), Best Shooter and Niluka Silva (Gampaha District Team) Most Promising Player.

N. G. Punchihewa, Secretary, Ministry of Sports was the chief guest Mrs. Tamara Dharmakeerthi Herath, the Chairperson of the Interim Committee of the Netball Federation of Sri Lanka, Ms. Yasmin Dharmaratne, Secretary of INNFSL and Ms. Padma Gunawardena, the National Junior Netball Coach were also associated at the awards ceremony.
