'All Australia' at Earl's Regency

Earl's Regency Hotel Kandy will take on a carnival atmosphere from March 13 to 20 when the Australian cricket team will be resident at the hotel to take part in the 2nd test match in Kandy.

General Manager Earl's Regency, Roshan Fernando has made elaborate arrangements to mark the stay of the Australian Cricketers at his hotel, with a grand food and wine festival from March 13-20. To coincide with the cricketers stay at Earl's Regency, world renowned Australian musical trio will be flown in specially for the food and wine festival, to entertain the cricketers and other hotel guests. The musical trio Andy Thompson (Tenor-Saxophonist), Glen Terry, (Vocals-guitar) and Robin Loochie (Bass player) will transform Earl's Regency's Far Pavilion Restaurant to an Australian carnival during dinner time.

The dinner buffet will offer guests a wide spread of Australian gastronomical delights - lamb square cut shoulder, lamb lions, boneless mutton truck, beef steer, strip lions, beef tender lions, roast turkey and duck - totally Australian, says Roshan. A feast not to be missed by Australian food lovers, at Earl's Regency from March 13-20.

'Hippos'- latest addition to Lanka's sophisticated night out

'Hippos' cafe and bar is the latest addition to Lanka's sophisticated 'night out'. The elegant cafe at Bullers Road Bambalapitiya cafe with a 60-seat capacity, is owned and managed by Elect Industries which was established in 1960, by the late Premadasa Gunasekera, founder of Elect Radio.

The present owner of 'Hippos' is Nalin Gunasekera, a product of St. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia. Fully air-conditioned 'Hippos' with subdued lighting has a well stocked bar with the bar counter made of granite and stainless steel.

"Hippos" caters mainly to Western food lovers.

The signature dishes are prepared by Western food maestro, executive Chef Premaratne are boiled fillet steak madagascar, fillet of beef steak, served with fresh vegetables, baked jacate potatoes and madagascar pepper sauce, sesame fried stuffed breast of chicken, breaded breast of chicken stuffed with spanish and mushrooms served with french fries and wine fresh tomato sauce, fried 'garupa' Thai style served for the Asian food lovers the food list is endless says the manager of "Hippos"versatile hotelier Chandana Ratnayake. "Hippos" is opened for lunch and dinner throughout the week. "Hippos" also offer take-away for those who love to savour delicious western cuisine at their own back yard, says Chandana.

"Hippos" will telecast Sri Lanka Australia cricket matches and other important events around the world line on wide screen.
