Sri Sumangala, Kandy win by 2 wkts

An eighth-wicket partnership of 71 runs by K.L. Weerabahu (68 not out) and M.K. Pilawalage (49) and another 40-run partnership for the unbeaten 9th wicket between Weerabahu and D.N. Bogamuwa (23 n.o.) enabled Sri Sumangala College, Kandy to edge out St. Thomas's College Bandarawela by 2 wickets in the 'C' division Elephant Lemonade inter-school cricket encounter at the Badulla cricket grounds.

STC bating first, were all out for 213 in 47.5 overs with A. Rajkumar top scoring with 56 runs. In reply Sri Sumangala College were at one stage 82 for 6 wickets but reached the target losing 8 wickets 3.2 overs to spare.

STC Bandarawela: 213 (D. Kanagasabai 23, A. Rajkumar 56, Isuru Perera 20, S. Jayasundera 17, E. Bandara 21, M.K. Pilawalage 3 for 18 and R. Jayawardena 2 for 49).

Sri Sumangala College: 217 for 8 (R. Jayawardena 28, C.D. Wijeratne 12, K.L. Weerabahu 68 n.o., M.K. Pilawalage 49, D.N. Bogamuwa 23 n.o., Nimesh Kokuhennadi 2 for 38, Heshan Dissanayake 2 for 27 and Ajith Rajkumar 2 for 32).
