Caltex Lanka wins 'Gold' for team effort

Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited has won the Gold for the Best Performances Award of the ChevronTexaco Global Lubricant Companies in Asia Pacific region for the year 2003. The award was presented to Kishu Gomes, the Managing Director/CEO of Caltex Lubricants Lanka Limited by Martin B. Southern, the Vice President of the Asia Pacific Region, in a regional conference held in Singapore recently.

Competing with seventeen other ChevronTexaco Lubricant companies in the region; which includes New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, India, and Vietnam. Caltex Lanka achieved this recognition due to their outstanding performance in all areas of consideration for the year-end 2003. This follows their last year's achievement proving their competitiveness as its peers in the Asia Pacific region, by winning the Silver Award.

"I hope the recognition which couples this achievement will definitely motivate Caltex Lanka family to do better in future. Its an achievement of the efforts of a big team, which includes all stakeholders," said Kishu Gomes who elaborated that this recognition would be a great motivating factor to meet the future challenges with confidence.

Performances of the regional companies were evaluated on what we call "4+1" strategic intents followed worldwide in all ChevronTexaco companies with Caltex Lanka's success coming in all areas; whereby five critical business drivers are managed effectively, which are operational excellence, cost reduction, capital stewardship, profitable growth & organisational capability.

Apart from this award, CLLL has had a wonderful run in 2003, continuing to consolidate its position as a leading blue chip in Sri Lanka and also to further strengthen its place as the most successful privatised enterprise in the country, although faced with competition form the new market entrants.

CLLL with its emphasis on the "4+1 strategic Intent" believes that its people, processes and culture, will be the driving force behind their performance in years to come.

By wining this award, CLLL has demonstrated that they undoubtedly are a force to reckon with, no only in Sri Lanka but regionally as well.
